Hospitality Project | West Hollywood, CA

Project Overview

This project focused on transforming an urban hospitality environment into a lush, immersive landscape inspired by the natural textures and plant life of coastal California.

Design Brief

The client wanted to create a more organic, transportive guest experience. The landscape needed to reflect the brand’s connection to nature while supporting high foot traffic, durability, and year-round usability.

Rolling Greens was brought in to develop a planting strategy and landscape design that balanced aesthetic refinement with performance across multiple outdoor zones.

OUR APPROACH

Our approach centered on creating a layered, naturalistic landscape rooted in the textures and plant communities of Southern California.

Drawing inspiration from Santa Barbara and Ojai, we developed a palette of drought-tolerant, native-adjacent plantings paired with warm, earthy materials including decomposed granite and reclaimed wood.

Behind The Scenes...

We worked closely alongside the architects and design teams to ensure the landscape seamlessly integrated with the overall vision of the property.

This project required careful coordination across multiple phases of installation, balancing design intent with the realities of a high-traffic hospitality environment.

THE EXECUTION

  • Designed and installed a canyon-inspired walkway featuring semi-deciduous trees and layered understory planting
  • Developed decomposed granite pathways to create a natural, textural circulation flow
  • Implemented a meadow-inspired planting palette with a mix of native and climate-appropriate species
  • Installed a courtyard olive tree as a central anchor element
  • Integrated perimeter planting including jasmine and climbing vines
  • Coordinated closely with project partners across architecture and installation

The Result

The result is a richly layered landscape that transforms the guest experience, offering moments of softness, movement, and escape within an urban setting.

The space now feels both grounded and elevated — supporting circulation and usability while reinforcing the brand’s identity through a natural, immersive environment.
